We have a resource library and access to archaeological
news and surveys being performed and share with our
membership for their inclusion in the actual "dig". We
provide information on regional Archaeological Surveys
that are performed and host the presentation of the report.
We have had the SEAC National Park Service Archaeologist
Ken Wild speak of the St. John Dig at Cinnamon Bay. We
have also hosted Dr. Michelle Hayward and Dr. MIchael
Cinquino of Pan Am Consultants both of whom, have done
extensive work on the Pre-Columbian Caribbean History of
the region. Dr. Hayward presented an Archaeological Survey
done on the island of St. Croix where two Petroglyphs were
discovered. Dr. Hayward has written a book on Petroglyphs
on the island of Puerto Rico.
This book is available at our library and book store.
We publish a Newsletter and attempt publications
around the Equinoxes and Solstices, events that
drove their lives. Mr. David Hayes RPA has done
two recent digs on St. Croix, one of which was
presented to the Danish in Copenhagen, Denmark
for forensic studies. The other at the Longpoint
Colonial Settlement where a Danish Gaurdhouse
was established and held in the late 1700's. We
encourage teachers to bring their students for
guided tours, and digs. We have discussed the
introduction of a curriculum that studies the Pre-
Columbian History and Archaeological
Methodology of Surveys. This hands on approach
shall give students tangible evidence of possible
careers available on our beautiful island. We are
dedicated to the exposure of the fascinating Pre-Columbian
history that exists on the island of St. Croix to the public and for the public benefit.
